The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast a dust haze across the country from Thursday to Saturday.
In its weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja, NiMet expects a visibility range of 2Km to 5Km over the northern region, North Central states, and the Inland states during this period. NiMet also anticipates early morning mist or fog over the coastal region.
According to NiMet, “Moderate dust haze with a visibility range of 2Km to 5Km is expected over the coastal belt during the afternoon and evening hours.” The agency further stated, “On Friday, a slight dust haze is expected over the northern region and North Central states throughout the forecast period.” NiMet also mentioned that “Moderate dust haze with a visibility range of 2Km to 5Km is expected over the inland states and the coastal belt during the forecast period.”
Looking ahead to Saturday, NiMet forecasts, “A sunny and hazy atmosphere is expected over the northern region throughout the forecast period.”
The agency emphasized the presence of dust particles in suspension and advised the public to take necessary precautions. NiMet specifically urged individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues to exercise caution in the current weather situation.
NiMet also provided guidance for airline operators, stating, “We urge airline operators to get updated with weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.”
