The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast a three-day dust haze to affect various parts of the country from Thursday to Saturday.
In a weather outlook released in Abuja on Wednesday, NiMet projected slight to moderate dust haze conditions across northern, central, and southern regions.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience slight dust haze with good visibility throughout Thursday, transitioning to moderate dust haze with visibility between 2 km and 5 km on Friday and Saturday.
For the North-Central region, slight dust haze is expected on Thursday, with moderate dust haze taking over on Friday and Saturday, maintaining a visibility range of 2 km to 5 km.
The southern parts of the country are predicted to experience moderate dust haze from Thursday to Saturday, with visibility ranging from 2 km to 5 km. Early morning fog or mist is anticipated along the coastal areas, while patches of clouds may form in the afternoons and evenings.
NiMet warned that dust particles in the atmosphere could pose health risks, particularly for individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma.
“People with respiratory issues should take necessary precautions during this weather condition,” the agency advised.
Airline operators were also urged to obtain location-specific weather reports to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
“Residents should stay informed through regular weather updates from NiMet and adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities,” the agency added.
