NiMET predicts heavy rainfall in 15 states

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a weather forecast bulletin on Thursday, warning that moderate to heavy rainfall will affect 15 states in the country in the next three days.

NiMet revealed this in its bulletin which also predicted strong winds would blow across 18 states between Friday and Saturday.

According to NiMet, the states that will experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, October 6, 2023 are Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Plateau, Taraba, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Kwara, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ogun.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the rainfall will extend to parts of Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Cross River, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Kogi, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun and Oyo states, as well as the FCT.

On Sunday, October 8, 2023, the rainfall will continue to affect parts of Taraba, Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo and Ogun states.

“There is likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday, October 8 (midnight – 23.59 hours) over parts of Taraba, Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, and Ogun states.” the bulletin further read.

NiMet said that the temperature across the country will be low to moderate and there is no risk of heat-related hazards.

The agency also said that strong winds will hit parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kwara, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, Gombe, Nasarawa, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Borno states, including the FCT in the next three days.
