The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a comprehensive weather advisory forecasting haziness and thunderstorms across the country from Thursday through Saturday. In its latest weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja, NiMet provided detailed insights into the expected weather conditions.

According to NiMet’s forecast, moderate dust haze is expected to prevail on Thursday, with visibility projected to range between 2km and 5km. The agency warns of localized visibility of less than 1km in northern regions throughout the three-day period.

NiMet highlighted the likelihood of slight dust haze over the North Central region, along with patches of cloud cover anticipated in parts of Kogi, Benue, and Kwara. Inland states are expected to experience a mix of cloudy conditions and intermittent sunshine.

Speaking on the forecast, a representative from NiMet stated, “We envisage isolated thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun during the afternoon and evening hours.”

The agency further cautioned, “On Friday, thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern parts.”

In response to the expected weather conditions, NiMet advised the public to take precautionary measures, including the use of face masks due to the presence of dust particles in the atmosphere. Additionally, airline operators were urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.

“We urge everyone to stay informed and take necessary precautions,” emphasized the NiMet representative.
