The National Identity Management Commission has announced its intention to launch a self-service application, streamlining the process for Nigerians in the diaspora to enroll for their National Identification Number.
The technical adviser to the DG/CEO on media and communications, Ayodele Babalola, revealed this initiative during a strategic meeting on Monday between Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chair of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, and Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC Director-General.
According to Babalola, the application is slated to go live in February, and as part of the initiative, a dedicated Diaspora Focal Point Desk will be established at the NIMC office, ensuring swift issue resolution within 24 hours.
Babalola’s statement emphasized the customer-centric approach, aiming to provide efficient support to Nigerians abroad, aligning with the agency’s commitment to quality service delivery.
Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the innovative solution, stating, “This is a forward-thinking strategy, and we appreciate the NIMC delegation for this innovative solution.”
She underscored the significance of the new system, particularly its ability to seamlessly link NIN with international passports for Nigerians residing outside the country.
Coker-Odusote affirmed that the initiative aligns with her commitment to enhancing service delivery and creating a hassle-free system for Nigerians abroad.
She expressed gratitude to NiDCOM for its support and conveyed confidence in the success of this collaborative endeavor.
