The National Identity Management Commission has launched a new identity verification service called the NIN Authentication Service, or NINAuth, to make it easier and safer for Nigerians to access government services.

This move comes after President Bola Tinubu approved the use of the National Identification Number across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the country.

According to the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the new platform was created to improve security, give users more control over their personal data, and make access to government services like SIM registration, immigration, tax filing, and driver’s license renewal faster and easier.

Dr. Adegoke explained, “The NIMC NINAuth application is the official tool for linking with the Commission’s systems. It adds strong protection and lets users control how their data is shared. No data is released unless the user gives permission.”

He added that the service is part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to modernise the country’s digital identity system.

Some key benefits of the NINAuth app include:

  • Better security: It protects personal data from being accessed by the wrong people.
  • User control: People can choose when and how their NIN information is used.
  • Easy access: The app offers a one-stop login for different government services.

NIMC said the app supports web, API, and mobile-based services, and it is now the only approved method for all NIN-related verifications. The system also helps in keeping national databases aligned and up to date.

“The NINAuth platform shows our strong commitment to secure and modern identity systems for Nigeria,” Dr. Adegoke said.

Nigerians are encouraged to download the NINAuth app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. More details and the full user guide can be found at https://ninauth.nimc.gov.ng.
