Nigerien who stabbed a man to death to die by hanging

A 27-year-old citizen of Niger, Sulaiman Abdullahi, was on Wednesday sentenced to death by hanging by the Kano State High Court for the murder of 30-year-old Yahya Badamasi in 2017.

Justice Nasiru Saminu, who presiding over the court, found Suleiman guilty of culpable homicide, an offense prohibited by Section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Laws of Kano State 1991.

The accused, originally from Matamaye village in Niger Republic, had a disagreement with the victim, who resided in Kofar Nassarawa Quarters in Kano.

During the altercation, which occurred on April 9, 2017, the convict used a pair of scissors to stab the victim in the neck.

Badamasi, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. Subsequently, the Abdullahi was apprehended by police officers from the Kwalli Division and charged in court.
