Nigeria’s Etebo joins Watford until 2022

Super Eagles midfielder, Peter Oghenekaro Etebo, has signed a season-long loan deal with Premier League returnee, Watford, the club announced on Friday.

According to an official statement by the club, the contract includes an option to buy the Nigeria international at the end of the season from his parent club, Stoke City.

“Watford FC is pleased to confirm the signing of Peter Etebo on a season-long loan from Stoke City, with an option to buy… Welcome to Watford, Peter,” the club said on its official website.

The box-to-box midfielder, 25, becomes the third Nigerian player at Vicarage Road Stadium, joining attack Isaac Succes and defender, William Troost-Ekong.

Etebo who began his career in his home country with Warri Wolves before switching to Portuguese outfit Feirense in 2016 signed with the Potters in June 2018 and has since spent time on loan at Getafe and Galatasaray.

Etebo is capped 38 times by Nigeria’s senior team, having previously turned out 19 times for the Super Eagles’ Under-23s.
