The spread of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria continues to record a significant increase as the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reveal Nigeria now has 40,532 confirmed cases.
On the 26th of July 2020, 555 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria, having carried out a total daily test of 3,063 samples across the country.
To date, 40,532 cases have been confirmed, 17,374 cases have been discharged and 858 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. A total of 262,579 tests have been carried out as of July 26th, 2020 compared to 259,516 tests a day earlier.

According to the NCDC, the new cases were reported from 18 states- Lagos (156), Kano (65), Ogun (57), Plateau (54), Oyo (53), Benue (43), FCT (30), Ondo (18), Kaduna (16), Akwa Ibom (13), Gombe (13), Rivers (12), Ekiti (9), Osun (8), Cross River(3), Borno (2), Edo (2), Bayelsa (1).
Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 14,456, followed by Abuja (3,481), Oyo (2,570), Edo (2,167), Rivers (1,652), Kano (1,520), Delta (1,464), Kaduna (1,365), Ogun (1,301), Ondo (1,061), Plateau (834), Ebonyi (759), Enugu (741), Katsina (733), Kwara (711), Borno (611), Gombe (571), Bauchi (538), Abia (536), Imo (465).
Osun State has recorded 443 cases, Benue (337), Bayelsa (327), Jigawa (322), Nasarawa (308), Akwa Ibom (221), Niger (168), Sokoto (153), Adamawa (140), Anambra (132), Ekiti (113), Kebbi (90), Zamfara (77), Yobe (66), Taraba (54), Cross River (40) while Kogi state has recorded 5 cases only.
