The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the country’s power supply will soon improve significantly.
He gave this assurance on Friday after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Agodi Prayer Ground in Ibadan.
Adelabu said the administration of President Bola Tinubu is already fixing the major problems that have affected the power sector for many years.
“The power sector had some serious foundational structural issues, which we have been able to correct with this administration,” he said.
He explained that the recent improvement in electricity across the country is only a small sign of what is coming.
“The little improvement that you have seen is just a tip of the iceberg. You will still witness major improvement in power supply,” Adelabu stated.
He added that the Tinubu-led government is committed to lighting up homes, businesses, and industries across Nigeria.
“President Tinubu assured that his major objective is to make sure that he electrifies every Nigerian home, household, businesses, institutions, and industries. And I can tell you that we are not relenting,” the minister said.
Adelabu mentioned that he became Minister of Power in September 2023, and that even within a short time, some positive changes are already showing.
“I resumed this job in September 2023. This is just the end of May, and you have seen a little. I promise you that within the next one year, you are going to see major improvement,” he said.
He also noted that better electricity will help revive small businesses, boost industries, and bring light and joy to homes across the country.
“Rome was not built in a day. And for you to build a solid building, there must be a very solid and reliable foundation,” Adelabu said. “We are building that foundation now, and Nigerians will soon enjoy the full benefits.
