Nigerians urge US varsity to release Tinubu's records

Nigerians have flooded the social media pages of Chicago State University, demanding the release of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s undergraduate academic credentials. The calls come amidst a certificate forgery saga that has stirred controversy across the nation.

The President of Chicago State University, Zaldwaynaka Scott, found herself at the center of the storm as pressure mounted for her to disclose Tinubu’s academic records and the university’s 1979 yearbook.

The university faced a barrage of criticism and demands for transparency, prompting the President to deactivate her Twitter account in an attempt to quell the rising tide of criticism and the University blocking theirs.

The online campaign, spearheaded by Nigerians seeking clarity on Tinubu’s academic history, underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in matters of public figures’ qualifications.

Twitter users like Achika Prince Samson (@Princesam14) expressed their concerns, demanding verifiable information about the certificates presented by Tinubu and his academic records during his time at Chicago State University.

“All we need is Verifications about the certificate he presented and the Academic records. Infact we want to know which certificate he presented before given him admission into Chicago University? All Eyes On Judiciary”.

However, not all voices were in support of the movement. User Olly-k1 (@OrlharOlayemi) criticized online activism as detrimental to Nigeria’s reputation, urging citizens to engage in more constructive avenues.

“Why you people always love displayed madness and disgrace NIGERIA everywhere just because you failed to plan well. Yet you people continue to constitutes nuisance all around….. Too pathetic”

Similarly, Scorpio (@SundayOlasunbo) called the president of the institution to save the good name of the school, suggesting that political influence might compromise the university’s integrity.

“Ma, pls kindly save Chicago University before the name of the institution is finally damaged. The current management of the school has been compromised by criminal politicians”

Amidst the clamor, questions remain unanswered. The Chicago State University has yet to clarify the circumstances surrounding Tinubu’s removal from the 1979 yearbook and the allegations of certificate forgery.

As Nigerians and the world await more information, the incident has sparked a wider conversation about the importance of educational transparency, integrity, and the role of social media in holding institutions accountable
