News filtered in few minutes ago that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has retired.
The clergyman reportedly took the decision after new directives came from financial regulations council. He handled the mantle of leadership to Pastor Joshua Obayemi who is now the new General Overseer of the church.
Nigerians who were greeted with the news of Adeboye’s resignation this morning were amazed but elated that the man of God fulfilled his mandate while serving as the GO of the church. They took to their various social media platforms to question the rational behind Adeboye’s decision.
Adeboye was appointed General Overseer of the church in 1981 after Papa Akindayomi handed over, hence it is no doubt that the revered man of God enjoys massive followership on Twitter, Facebook and other available social media platforms.
Meanwhile, the son of the GO, Leke Adeboye in a recent statement, clarified that Pastor Adeboye only stepped down as Nigeria Overseer; but still the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Pastor Adeboye is indeed a wise man, imagine the leadership and tussle that would arise in RCCG if he dies without a successor in place.

Just last weekend My mother and I discussed Pastor Adeboye’s successor.
If he died before he appointed a successor RCCG would break.— Moboluwaduro Oshodi (@4eyednerd) January 7, 2017
Adeboye resigns. So how come none of the crossover night prophets saw something as important as change in leadership in RCCG in 2017?
