The New Nigeria Peoples Party has responded to recent comments made by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who claimed that the opposition was no longer relevant.
In an interview with Tribune Online, NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ladipo Johnson, dismissed Ganduje’s statement, asserting that it is the ruling APC that Nigerians are desperate to see vanish due to the widespread hardship allegedly caused under its governance.
Johnson further criticized the APC leadership, accusing them of plunging the country into difficulty through what he described as sheer incompetence. According to him, the desire among citizens is to be rescued from the current administration’s failings.
“Ganduje’s words are inconsequential. We actually do not want to dignify him by response. If the APC feels that this is the calibre, quality of person they want as their national chairman, may be that is why the country is where we are to be. There is no truth in what he said.
“The NNPP is not dead. On the contrary, it is the APC that has Nigerians praying that they disappear because of the way and manner they have displayed their incompetence in ruling the country,” the party spokesman stated.
