A fresh accident involving entertainer DJ Chicken in the Lekki area of Lagos has caused renewed worry among Nigerians, who are now calling for authorities to ban him from driving.

Videos shared online on Saturday showed his car badly damaged after the crash, with people at the scene saying the incident could have ended in serious injuries or death. This latest crash comes after two other accidents linked to DJ Chicken in the past two months in Ogun and Lagos.

One X user, Chief Ayodele Afolabi, also known as Otun Bashorun, said the situation had become dangerous and urged government agencies to take action.

“I wish to express my deep concern regarding the repeated incidents involving the individual popularly known as DJ Chicken. Within the past two months, he has been involved in no fewer than three serious road accidents, each posing grave danger to the public,” Afolabi wrote.

He added that an earlier crash in Sagamu left a woman badly injured, and another one on Kelly Street almost hit several pedestrians.

“Only yesterday, another alarming episode took place on Kelly Street, where he nearly ran over several pedestrians. It was only by sheer providence and the intervention of a roadside gutter that a greater tragedy was averted, as the vehicle involved was almost completely destroyed,” he said.

Afolabi then called for urgent action from traffic authorities.

“Given this troubling pattern of reckless behaviour, it is my considered opinion that DJ Chicken should be immediately prohibited from operating any vehicle within any part of the country until further notice. This measure is necessary to safeguard the lives of innocent citizens and prevent future tragedies.”

Many other Nigerians online agreed with him and demanded stricter action.

Another X user, Ayodele Balogun, wrote, “I wish the authorities will do the right thing before he finally takes someone’s life or cause them grave injuries. But the Nigeria that we know, it is definitely until this mad man kill someone on the road that action will be taken.”

Ayọ̀ọlá, who tweets as Handyleema, added, “How many accidents does one person need before we agree he’s a danger on the road? Let him rest from driving before he turns busy roads into crime scenes. In a country that works, his licence would have been revoked by now.”

Uzoamaka, tweeting as moadelekan, said, “Not only should his driving licence be revoked, assuming he has one, he should be permanently banned from driving, arrested, and prosecuted for endangering public safety.”

Another user, Morakinyo Idris, known as $NODEPAY, stressed the urgency of the situation, writing, “Honestly, this is a fair call. Three major accidents in two months is not bad luck. It’s a clear danger to the public. Restricting him from driving is not punishment, it’s protection for everyone else on the road. People’s lives are at stake.”
