Nigerian parents don’t scold family breadwinners – Rema

Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has shared his thoughts on how Nigerian parents treat children who contribute significantly to the family’s finances.

In a conversation with content creator Enzo, Rema encouraged him to consider getting a tattoo, similar to his own.

However, Enzo hesitated, explaining that his mother disapproved of such choices.

He recounted a previous experience when his mother gave him the silent treatment for days after he braided his hair.

Enzo said, “My mum won’t let me get a tattoo. The time I did braids, she didn’t talk to me for days. It was bad.”

Responding to that, Rema advised him to focus on working hard and making money, noting that parental disapproval often fades when a child becomes the primary provider.

“Don’t worry, you just need to hustle a little bit more. Wait till you cash out big. Nigerian parents don’t advise breadwinners,” Rema said.

The singer has previously spoken about becoming his family’s breadwinner at a young age following the death of his father.

He revealed that he earned his first million naira at the age of 17 and handed it all over to his mother.
