A Nigerian man found guilty of raping and killing commercial sex worker, Jessica McGraa has been jailed for life in Scotland.

The 26-year-old convict, Bala Chinda, was accused of murdering the 36-year-old at a city centre flat in Aberdeen.

Jessica was discovered partially clothed at a rented property in Union Terrace on February 11 last year, the Scottish sun reported.

Chinda denied killing the sex worker but a jury at the High Court in Aberdeen returned a guilty verdict and he was today caged for life. He was also accused of stealing McGraa’s two phones in an attempt to defeat the ends of justice.

Police Scotland issued a statement following the guilty verdict and said it “welcomes” Chinda’s conviction.

Chinda whose father is attached to the Nigerian embassy in Beijing, China approached McGraa for her service the night before the incident on February 11, 2016. A violent rage broke out between the two when Chinda could not pay for McGraa’s service the next day, which led to her death after being beaten and suffocated, according to court proceedings. Chinda then fled the scene of the incident, destroying all evidence that could link him with the fatal attack.

Although he denied the charges, a jury unanimously found him guilty of the murder and sentenced him to life with a minimum of 18 years behind bars.

The Scottish police said it was a difficult case to crack but thanks to CCTV evidence.
