Nigerian makeup artist, Theresa Emegwara, has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application by an individual after spending over 103 hours applying makeup without stopping.

Emegwara, who is popularly called TesGlam, achieved the feat on Monday, August 19, at exactly 7:15 a.m., when she clocked 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds. She beat the previous record held by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn, who set it in April 2024.

In a statement released by her media aide, Robert Ekat, on Tuesday in Lagos, it was confirmed that Emegwara is not stopping at 103 hours. She is pushing further with her project tagged Glam 4-144, aiming for 144 hours of non-stop makeup application, which will run for about six days.

Speaking about her journey, the 28-year-old makeup artist said, “I am filled with immense gratitude and energy from the support of everyone cheering me on. This has really tested me; I have cried and nearly given up. We are not yet done, the aim is 144 hours.”

Family, friends, and supporters have rallied around her throughout the marathon, which Guinness World Records officially approved to begin on August 14.

Her success adds to the rising wave of Nigerians breaking global records, following Tunde Onakoya’s chess marathon and Chef Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon.
