The Nigerian Army has announced that troops of Sector 5, Operation PEACE SHIELD, successfully foiled a bandit attack in Kaduna, rescuing 10 kidnapped victims and recovering cash paid as ransom.
The operation followed intelligence reports of the abduction of women from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area, on November 29, 2025.
In a statement on its social media platforms, the Army said, “At about 0640 hours on 5 December 2025, the troops made decisive contact with the kidnappers as they attempted to receive ransom payment from relatives of the victims.
The criminals were met with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and retreat hastily into nearby forests.”
The statement added that the troops acted swiftly to ensure the safe rescue of the victims, which included an adult male, three male children, three elderly women, and three female children.
The rescued individuals were debriefed and have since been reunited with their families.
During the operation, the troops also recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition, and ₦1,600,000 identified as part of the ransom money.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens, denying criminals any freedom of action, and ensuring that communities across the country can live and work in peace.
