Nigerian ambassador to US, Sylvanus Nsofor, dies
The Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America, Mr Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor, has reportedly died on Thursday.
Reports revealed that 85-year-old Nsofor passed away at a hospital in Maryland, Washington DC on December 11.
Born in Oguta, Imo State, Nsofor became the country’s ambassador to the US on November 13, 2017, following the death of his successor Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, who also died towards the end of his tenure.
Nsofor, who retired as a Justice from the Court of Appeal after 13 years (in 2005), graduated from London’s now-defunct Holborn College of Law in 1962.
He also bagged an LL.M from the London School of Economics in 1964.
The late envoy began teaching at Holborn College of Law in 1964 and later went into private practice the following year.
