The Nigerian Air Force has successfully dismantled a significant terrorist enclave and training facility in Bukar Meram, situated on the southern flank of the Lake Chad region in Borno State.

The coordinated air offensive was carried out on Sunday as part of Operation Hadin Kai, following credible intelligence that pointed to increased insurgent activity in the area.

In a statement released on Monday, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed that the operation resulted in the elimination of several terrorists and the destruction of critical logistical assets, including weapons depots, supply vehicles, and makeshift shelters.

“The Nigerian Air Force operating under OPHK, has sustained its momentum in the fight against terrorism with a successful air interdiction mission targeting a major terrorist enclave, also used as a training ground, in Bukar Meram, on the southern flank of the Lake Chad region, Borno State.

“Conducted on 9 June 2025, the operation which followed credible intelligence, resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorists as well as the destruction of key logistics infrastructure, including supply vehicles, weapons storage sites, and makeshift shelters,” Ejodame stated.

According to the NAF spokesperson, the targeted camp functioned as a central hub for the recruitment of fighters and coordination of attacks on surrounding communities, making it a strategically important base for the insurgents.

Ejodame emphasized that the strike forms part of the ongoing efforts by the Air Force to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability in the Northeast.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in its mandate to protect the sovereignty of the nation and ensure lasting peace and security across the Northeast and beyond,” he affirmed.
