Nigeria U-18 women’s handball team defeats Algeria in Africa Youth Championship opener

Nigeria’s National Under-18 women’s handball team defeated Algeria 28-18 in their opening match of the Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship in Monastir, Tunisia on Saturday.

The Nigerian team trailed 10-10 at half-time but bounced back in the second half to win 18-8.

Nigeria coach Shittu Agboola described the game as “a good beginning” and said that the team is here to win all their games.

Nigeria’s Taiwo Babatunde was named the Most Valuable Player of the match.

Nigeria are in Group A with Tunisia, Algeria and Guinea. They will play Guinea in their next match on Sunday at 4 PM.

The 19th Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship began on Saturday and will end on September 23rd.
