Nigeria reports 113 new COVID-19 infections, three deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 113 new COVID-19 infections on Friday.


In a statement released on its official website in the early hours of Friday,  the NCDC noted that a total of 162,388 infections have been confirmed nationwide.

In the same vein,  three patients had died of complications relating to the virus,  taking the death toll to 2,039.

“On the 26th of March 2021, 113 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria,” the NCDC said.

Of the 162,388 total confirmed cases, the NCDC added that at least “149,986 cases have been discharged and 2,039 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

It however noted that the “113 new cases are reported from 10 states- Lagos (53), Rivers (22), Akwa Ibom (12), Kaduna (12), Ondo (6), Osun (3), FCT (2), Jigawa (1), Nasarawa (1) and Kano (1).”

Having discharged over 1000 patients who successfully recovered after treatments in various isolation centres on Thursday,  there were no new discharged cases as of Friday.

Since Nigeria reported her first COVID-19 case in February 2020, a total of 1,727,467  people have been tested for the virus nationwide.

The NCDC stated that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities
