The Nigeria Police Force has announced that it will launch its own insurance company, NPF Insurance Co. Ltd, on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Abuja.

According to a statement by the Police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event will take place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, at 11:00 a.m.

The initiative aims to improve the welfare of police officers and provide comprehensive insurance services to the Nigerian public.

The unveiling will feature prominent dignitaries, including the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, as the Special Guest of Honour. Governors of the 36 states of Nigeria, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Distinguished Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.), are also expected to attend.

Adejobi explained that NPF Insurance Co. Ltd will offer financial protection and support to police officers, ensuring their welfare as they perform their duties. The insurance company will also extend its services to the general public, providing a variety of products tailored to meet diverse needs.

“The insurance company is designed to serve the needs of police officers who face daily risks in the line of duty while also catering to the insurance requirements of all Nigerians. This will enhance national security and provide reliable financial solutions,” Adejobi said.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed his commitment to improving police welfare and strengthening Nigeria’s security. He highlighted the importance of the insurance company in bridging the gap between police welfare and public insurance services.

“The NPF Insurance Co. Ltd is a proactive step towards ensuring the safety and prosperity of our officers and the public,” IGP Egbetokun stated.

AIG Olufemi Adenaike (Rtd.), the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, will oversee its operations.
