The Nigerian Immigration Service deported 61 foreign nationals in 2024 as part of ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration.

This was revealed in a recent report by the NIS, which also highlighted the success of the country’s new visa policy.

According to the report, the deportations were carried out to address issues related to irregular migration within the country.

The NIS also facilitated the issuance of 8,352 Visas on Arrival for travellers during the same period, showcasing the effectiveness of the updated visa policy.

The report partly read, “The NIS eased out 61 foreign nationals to address irregular migration. The new Visa Policy facilitated 8,352 Visas on Arrival.”

This is not the first instance of mass deportations by the Nigerian Immigration Service. Between 2020 and 2022, more than 70 foreign nationals were deported from the country as part of similar efforts to regulate migration and ensure compliance with immigration laws.

The NIS remains committed to enforcing the country’s immigration policies and addressing the challenges of irregular migration.
