Nigeria conducts 80,000 COVID-19 tests, 155,443‬ fewer than Ghana

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 chairman, Boss Mustapha, has said over 80,000 tests have been conducted in the country.

Mustapha said this at the press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday.

Mustapha, who doubles as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], added that 13,000 health workers had been trained, increasing the human resources available for case management.

According to him, the number of beds available for isolation and case management has increased from 3000 beds to 5000 beds nationwide.

However, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ puts the total tests conducted by the Federal Government as of 10.45 am on Tuesday, 09 June 2020 at 78,244. A total far below the 235,443 number of tests conducted by Nigeria’s West African neighbour.
