Folashade Oluwafemiayo has won Nigeria’s third gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympic Games.
She claimed victory by smashing the World and Paralympic records in the women’s 86kg powerlifting category.
The 36-year-old bettered her previous WR of 150.5kg with a lift of 152kg, according to making of champions.
Oluwafemiayo’s 1st lift of 147kg shattered the Paralympic Record of 135kg.
She went on to lift 149kg, 151kg and 152kg in her subsequent attempts which reportedly broke the PR or set a new World Record.
China’s Feifei Zheng won silver with a lift of 139kg while Louise Sugden of Great Brtain won bronze.
Team Nigeria has now won five medals at the ongoing Games.
Oluwafemiayo joins the likes of Bello Omolayo and Tijani Latifat as Nigeria’s three gold medalists so far.
Tijani Latifat won Nigeria’s first medal at the Paralympics on Thursday, winning the gold medal in the women’s -45kg para-powerlifting.
Omolayo claimed gold in the women’s 73kg para-powerlifting on Sunday with a Paralympics record of 141kg.
Meanwhile, Lucy Ejike and Ibrahim Olaitan also won bronze medals in para-powerlifting on Saturday.
Team Nigeria has moved six spots from 27th to 21st on the medal’s table.
