Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and unity as the country celebrates its 65th Independence anniversary.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mutfwang described the anniversary as both a moment of pride and a time for sober reflection on the nation’s journey since 1960.

“It is with pride and profound humility that I felicitate with patriotic Nigerians across the globe on this 65th Independence Anniversary,” he said.

“This milestone calls for sober reflection on our unity, peace, and progress as a nation. Our hope and confidence remain that God Almighty is at work in Nigeria, and despite our challenges, this nation shall surely rise to greatness.”

The governor paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers, praising their courage, resilience, and spirit of togetherness, which he said laid the groundwork for independence.

He also restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity in Plateau State. According to him, government efforts will continue to focus on protecting lives and property, developing infrastructure, and fostering unity across ethnic and religious lines.

Mutfwang promised to run an inclusive government where fairness and justice would guide his decisions. “Every citizen, regardless of political or religious affiliation, will be carried along,” he assured.

The governor also extended greetings to President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerians on the historic occasion, praying for wisdom, resilience, and integrity for leaders, as well as lasting peace across the nation.
