Niger Tornadoes FC have been crowned the 2020/21 champions of the Nigeria National League on Sunday.

Hamza Abara’s Minna based side clinched the title with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Shooting Stars (3SC) of Ibadan at the 2021 NNL Super 8 play-off final.

Shamsudeen’s 9th minute opener kickstarted the five-goal thriller at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, before 3SC’s Gafar pulled one back with a 16th minute penalty to end the first half 1-1.

Tornadoes restored their lead in the second half through Ahmadu (58′) before Bafan’s 64th minute goal doubled the lead.

3SC pulled one back through Quadry three minutes to the end of the game but it was not enough to earn them a late come-back.
