Niger local govt chairman beaten to stupor over N1.3m debt

A local government chairman in Minna-Katcha local government area of Niger state, Danlamin Abdullahi Saku was reportedly beaten to stupor by unknown youths in his local government over N1.3m debt hanging on his neck.

According to the VANGUARD, he was reported to have borrowed money from a friend who is elderly to him in the local government for over one year and refused to pay despite several demands made to him.

Trouble started in Katcha on Sunday when the chairman was said to have slapped one of the boys sent to him by the owner of the money.

It was reliably gathered that the angered boys went back to mobilize, came back and descended on the chairman in retaliation by beating him to a state of unconsciousness.

The Chairman was rushed to the hospital where he is said to be recuperating.
