The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has praised three Nigerian children for their outstanding performance at the 12th Annual Chess & Community Conference in the United States.
The NiDCOM chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, congratulated the young players—Ferdinand, Mary, and Mabel—who competed under the guidance of Nigerian chess expert and founder of Chess in Slums, Tunde Onakoya.
Dabiri-Erewa described their success as a remarkable achievement, saying it highlighted the intelligence and determination of Nigerian youths on the world stage.
“These kids have proven that talent knows no boundaries. Their victory is an inspiration, and we must continue to support initiatives that nurture our youth’s potential,” she said.
She also praised Onakoya for his efforts in using chess to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds, noting that his work is changing lives.
NiDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigerians excelling abroad and encouraged young talents to keep striving for excellence.
