Nicki Minaj hits Trevor Noah with gay remarks over Grammys joke

Rapper Nicki Minaj has responded to Grammys host Trevor Noah’s on-air joke about her absence from the ceremony and her recent political alignment with former President Donald Trump.

During his opening monologue on Sunday, Noah quipped, “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues,” adding that Trump would likely boast about having a bigger “ass” than Minaj.

Shortly after, Minaj fired back on social media platform X with a homophobic insinuation. “Trevor refuses to come out the closet when everyone in the industry knows his boyfriend,” she wrote. “Allegedly.”

The post included a photo of herself wearing a hat that read, “Nicki was right about everything,” along with throwback images of Jay-Z with Beyoncé and the late singer Aaliyah.

Minaj, who has 12 career Grammy nominations but was not nominated this year, has recently embraced Trump’s MAGA agenda. Last week, she declared herself Trump’s “No. 1 fan” at a Treasury Department summit and attended the premiere of a documentary about former First Lady Melania Trump.

Her latest remarks continue a pattern of using anti-LGBTQ+ language amid her political shift. Last week, she used a slur against independent journalist Don Lemon, who is gay, and doubled down on the insult after criticism.

In his sixth time hosting the Grammys, Noah highlighted the event as “the best concert money can’t buy” and humorously referenced several stars in attendance, though Minaj’s absence and political activities became a focal point of his opening segment.
