The Executive Director, Oluwaseun Olowoniyi has said that “The Give Hope To The Slum Child Programme”, a Non Governmental Organisation, has positively impacted no fewer than  5,000 Nigerians through its medical missions, distribution of sanitary towels, food and clothes in Lagos and Oyo States.

Olowoniyi said that the NGO on  yearly basis, through its programmes, matches  its commitments with actions.

He said this by addressing critical issues being faced by the communities in such areas as provision of  clothes, food, medical services and basic amenities to the needy.

It is used to expand the citizens’ access to mental health and psycho social services, he said.

He said that the project was meant to alleviate the financial burden and help to meet the basic needs of several households in rural and  urban areas  in both Lagos and Ibadan communities.

The Executive Director noted that the goal was to reach out to people in the two cities by providing a shopping experience called the ‘Cloth Feast’.

He said that it was also to provide the citizens with  free medical consultations and health care and give their children a fun-filled day while putting a smile on everyone’s face.

According to him, the programme tagged “The Give Project” conducted free medical education, screenings and treatment for health conditions like hypertension and diabetes.

He added that it also gave referrals to those identified as needing more medical care by visiting appropriate healthcare facilities.

He noted that during the programme, the youths were given lectures in sex education, awareness and counseling sessions.

He said that the NGO also distributed 7,000 sanitary pads and toiletries to adolescent females and young mothers in the communities.

“We had a ‘Cloth Feast’ aimed at providing quality clothing for the less privileged in the community.

“I was not surprised that it attracted many followers among the people since they had access to different wears to choose from.

“We also provided our trademark gift packs of groceries for every member of the community that participated, to put more smiles on their faces,” he said.

Olowoniyi said that the events were held at Popoyemoja and Heritage Mall at Dugbe,  in Ibadan; and at Baruwa, Ipaja, in Lagos  respectively.

He said that it was to inspire life-changing experiences for people during the festive season.
