Why we didn’t engage terrorists who attacked Niger – Military

Published

The Nigerian army has given reasons why it did not engage the over 200 terrorists who attacked residents in different Niger State communities on Tuesday.

According to PRNigeria who quoted a military officer, bad weather in the state prevented the Nigerian Air Force’s attack jets from launching counter-attack offensives against the criminal elements.

Reports revealed that residents, including children, were killed at Bangi, a community in Mariga local government by the terrorists who razed several houses, looted, vandalised provision stalls and rustled no fewer than 250 cattle from other villages they raided.

“Fighters pilot are being cautioned to be mindful of severe weather conditions due to adverse hazy weather including intensity storm, poor visibility, high turbulence.

“They adhere strictly to the metrological warnings on the deterioration of horizontal visibility occasioned by a noticeable advection of dust that comes with associated risks and dangers that could harm fighter aircraft during military operations,” the officer said.
