Magodo invasion: Sanwo-Olu visits protesting residents
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has visited the aggrieved residents of the Magodo Phase 2 Estate area of the state on Tuesday.
WuzupNigeria reported that the Magodo residents are protesting the planned demolition of properties in the estate as well as the continuous presence of over 50 armed policemen at the estate.
Some armed policemen were said to have recently accompanied suspected land grabbers and members of a family who invaded the estate to claim possession of the property.
Sanwo-Olu, however, had reportedly intervened, leading to the reopening of the gates to the estate that was previously shut to prevent a demolition move.
Subsequently the Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman, promised to withdraw the policemen.
But the policemen are still parading the estate with their guns, leading to calls from residents to the governor to come to their rescue.
