Lagos signs anti-open grazing bill

Lagos State has signed the anti-open grazing bill.

The bill, which was earlier passed into Law by the State Assembly, was on Monday signed by the Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The new bill prohibits open cattle grazing and trespass of cattle on land in the State.

Recall that the the State’s lawmakers on Monday, September 6, forwarded the bill titled, “A bill for a law to Prohibit Open Cattle Grazing In Lagos State, the Trespass of Cattle Land And For Other Connected Purposes” to the committee on agriculture after it scaled second reading.

WuzupNigeria reported that the bill contains at least six vital sections including fines for cattle’s grazing on another person’s land, risks of permanent forfeiture of cattle, and 21-year imprisonment for firearm possession by any herder, amongst others.
