The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has sent his condolences to President Joe Biden and the people of the United States on the passing of the former Secretary of State, Colin Powell.

Powell’s death was announced today in a statement by his family which revealed that he died of complications from COVID-19.

Buhari, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, described the deceased as a global icon, adding that he played a role in the eradication of polio in Africa.
