PHOTOS: Markets closed as traders mourn Ondo lawmaker ‘Expensive’

Major markets in Akure, Ondo State capital, were on Tuesday shut following the death of the lawmaker representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Adedayo Omolafe, popularly known as ‘Expensive’.

The market women were said to have ordered that shops and stalls be locked to mourn the passing of the lawmaker who was regarded as a man with a large heart among the traders.

The federal lawmaker and a former Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area of the state died on Monday shortly after complaining of a headache.

During a visit by DAILY POST to the markets along Oba Adesida road within the heart of the state capital, the usual hustling and bustling which the markets are known for.

Some of the traders could be seen in groups in sober moods as they continue to express shock at Adedayo’s sudden death.

According to some of the women, lawmakers associated freely with everyone irrespective of status.

Some of them maintained that he was their benefactor as he was responsible for the payment of their wards school fee while others said he was always available to assist them in their business.

Meanwhile, sympathizers have continued to troop to the Akure home of the deceased lawmaker.
