About a week after undergoing surgery on his leg, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo made his first appearance in photographs shared on his social media accounts on Sunday.

Osinbajo who stood alongside his wife, Dolapo, appreciated the management of Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, following successful surgery on his right femur (thigh bone).

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, informed Nigerians on July 16 that the “VP is in the hospital today for a surgical procedure on account of recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash.”

In an update on July 20, the hospital management revealed that the VP was “receiving physiotherapy and mobilising quite well on crutches.”

However, in his first message to Nigerians on Sunday, July 24, Osinbajo was full of gratitude to Nigerians and the hospital management.

My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.

“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital Lagos @duchesshospital, for providing such excellent care. God bless you all.
