A 30-year-old woman, Owolabi Olorunjedalo, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly assaulting her friend, Miss Gbure Ayedero, and destroying goods worth N200,000.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing two charges of assault and malicious damage.

The prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant on Jan. 5 at about 10:00 a.m. at No. 24, Liseri St., Ode-Irele, Irele Council area of the state, assaulted her friend, Miss Gbure Ayedero, during a disagreement.

Orogbemi said that the defendant also tore the cloth of the complainant worth N7,000 and destroyed goods valued at N200,000 in the complainant’s provision shop.

The prosecutor said that the complainant sustained injury during the assault.

He said the offences contravened sections 351 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Chris Ojuola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sums.

He added that the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Ondo State Government.

The case was adjourned until February 14 for further hearing.
