Nigeria’s first female VC Alele-Williams is dead

Prof. Grace Alele-Williams, the first Nigerian woman to be appointed a Vice-Chancellor, has passed away.

Born on December 16 1932, the late Alele-Williams died aged 89 on Friday, March 25.

She also made history by becoming the first Nigerian woman to obtain a doctorate degree in Mathematics education in 1963

The deceased was appointed the first Nigerian female VC at the University of Benin in 1985.
