The National Youth Council of Nigeria Nasarawa State chapter has approved the appointment of Malam Jaafar Loko as the State Chairman of the council.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of Extraordinary Meeting of Nasarawa NYCN, signed by Mr Akolo Alaku, State Secretary and Malam Liman Akaro, Vice Chairman, on Thursday in Keffi Local Government area of the state.
The communique explained that the meeting deliberated extensively on issues bordering on the leadership of the Executive Council and the entire affairs of NYCN in the state.
“Officials from across the state were in attendance and discussions were dispassionately held on issues related to alleged negligence to duty, mismanagement of council resources and lack of accountability which violates the constitutional provision of the the council.
” Therefore, a vote of no confidence was passed on Mr Idris Ojoko, who was the State Chairman of the Council. Consequent upon that, Jaafar Loko emerged unanimously as the new State Chairman of the council.
”The council also relieved Muhammad Atose who until now was the Deputy Chairman of the council due to his tight schedule in his new assignment.
“And Mr Louis Azige consensually emerged the new Deputy Chairman of the Nasarawa NYCN.”
The communique revealed that the council advised the public, the government and people of Nasarawa, particularly from the youth constituency not to transact any business with Ojoko on behalf of the NYCN.
The council, however, assured youths of the state its readiness to reposition youth activities and create an enabling environment for all young people to pursue their aspirations and advance their well-being.
Responding, Loko pledged to provide level playing ground for all youths to realised their potential and support policies and programmes of Nasarawa State Government.
Loko is currently Special Assistant to Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa.
