Kayode Adebowale becomes new Vice-Chancellor of UI
Prof. Kayode Adebowale has emerged as the new substantive vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The PUNCH reports that Prof. Adebowale’s appointment was announced by the institution’s Governing Council on Thursday.
The professor of Chemistry is the current deputy vice-chancellor, administration
Confirming his appointment, the Chairman, UI Governing Council, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, responded affirmatively when asked about the appointment via a telephone call.
He said, “Yes, Prof. Adebowale has been named UI VC.”
Of the sixteen candidates that applied for the position, Prof. Remi Raji withdrew from the race.
Prof. Adebowale came tops amidst the 15 others who were left in the race.
