Jigawa donates N100,000 to each family of Birnin-Kudu crash victims

Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency , on Wednesday, supported the families of the 34 persons who died in an auto-crash on Birnin-Kudu-Kano road in June with N100,000 each.

SEMA Executive Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Babura, who made the presentation at the Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa, said that the agency would continue to support victims of natural disasters in the state.

The people lost their lives on June 7 when their vehicle had a head-on collision with another one, resulting in a fire outbreak.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 am. Near Alu Farms in Birninkudu Local Government Area of the state.

Babura said that of the 34 people, Jahun was the most affected, followed by Bangu with eight people while some others hailed from Kirikasama, with other communities having one or two people in the accident.

He also announced that the agency had recently supported victims of fire outbreaks in 17 local governments with cash donations.

The executive secretary said that a total of N13.9 million had been disbursed to 212 households who had such sad experiences, adding that the amount given to each family was based on the loss recorded.

The Federal Government had, in July, take an inventory of the bad spots in the state for possible repairs.

NAN also reports that the federal government is currently in the process of realigning about 11.5 kilometers of dangerous bends on Birnin-Kudu-Kano road to prevent further loss of lives and property.
