JAMB mock examination centre gutted by fire in Abuja
One of the centres for the ongoing mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) in Abuja is reported to have been on fire.
The fire broke out in Dominion International School, Jabi, a centre for the mock exams.
Though the cause of the fire as of the time of filing this report was unknown, the situation is said to have quickly been put under control.
No lives were lost in the incident which forced organisers to relocate the candidates to another centre where they wrote their examination.
JAMB's Director of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the outbreak to journalists after the examination.
Dr Fabian said, "We have over 160,617 candidates sitting for this mock examination in all our CBT centres. We received report of complaint of capacity and stability from one or two centres.
"Like in Abuja, there is a centre — Dominion International School, Jabi — that caught fire during the examinations but everything has been put under control."
