Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday morning abducted Asma'u, younger sister to the Deputy Speaker of Katsina House of Assembly, Dalhatu Tafoki.
The lawmaker who represents Faskari Constituency at the Assembly confirmed the incident.
Tafoki revealed that the gunmen stormed his hometown, Tafoki in Faskari Local Government Area of the state around 1.00am on Sunday and whisked her away.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the gunmen headed for the Deputy Speaker's family compound where they initially abducted two ladies shortly after their arrival.
One of the ladies, however, fled during a shootout between the bandits and members of the local vigilance group in the town.
Follow her escape, the gunmen successfully made away with Asma'u.
The Deputy Speaker also confirmed that Asma'u was about to wed, adding that the gunmen were yet to contact the family on their demands.
He said the incident had been reported to the police.
The Katsina police command has yet to react to the incident as of Monday.
Asma'u's abduction occurred few hours after gunmen also abducted the two sons and a wife of another member of the House of Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Kurami on Saturday night.
His sons whose names were given as Abba and Khalifa as well as his wife, Rabiatu were abducted about 9.00pm on Saturday by gunmen who stormed his village, Kurami, Bakori Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen also shot and wounded a member of an Islamic Aid group, Mallam Ubaidu Abdulhakim during the incident.
Nothing had been heard about Kurami's abducted children and wife as at Monday.
