Ganduje begins taking census of Kano herdsmen
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has constituted a committee, comprising experts and concerned stakeholders, to take stock of all herdsmen from Kano State.
Ganduje, made the disclosure, during an interactive session, with a Kano-based television station.
Abba Anwar, spokesman for Ganduje, in a statement assured the people that he would not relent in his efforts, to ensure that the state remained peaceful.
“We want to know how many herdsmen we have in Kano. That is why we constituted Fulani and other stakeholders Committee, to take stock of all herdsmen, in the state, including those that are currently not in the state but are from Kano.
“We want to see how we can integrate them into the larger society. They should also come and feel the presence of governance. Ascertaining their number will help us formulate good policies for their welfare and that of the society in general,” he said.
He said, his commitment to a more peaceful society, informed his administration’s policy of establishing the Ruga Project, at Dansoshiya forest.
