A bomb squad descended on Buckley in Flintshire following the report of a suspicious package but experts said there was ‘no risk to the public’ after an assessment.

Locals were asked to avoid the area on Brunswick Road as an investigation was launched just before 9am.

Superintendent Mark Williams from North Wales Police said: ‘We’d like to thank the residents and visitors of Buckley for their cooperation following this morning’s incident.

‘Thankfully, following an assessment, it was found that there was no risk to the public.’

The public had been warned, a cordon put in place ‘would cause some disruption’ but roads will now reopen.

A previous statement from police said the Post Office was evacuated ‘in line with standard procedure,’ reports

It comes after a suicide bomber blew up a car outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital in a separate incident on Sunday.

The UK’s terror threat was raised from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe’ in the aftermath.

This means an attack is now deemed to be ‘highly likely’ but not imminent.
