Blasphemy: Politicians don’t care about Nigerians, Mr Macaroni reacts to Atiku deleted tweet

Published

Popular comedian, Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni, has advised Nigerians to beware of politicians’ gimmicks after presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar deleted a tweet condemning the lynching of a Sokoto Student by her colleagues.

WuzupNigeria reported that the victim, Deborah Samuel- a Christian 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto, was killed for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.

Condemning the act, Atiku, who is running for President on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, tweeted, “There cannot be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends.”

Hours after backlashes from some Muslims on social media, Atiku took down the tweet and denied authorizing it on his verified Hausa page on Facebook after some Muslims in Sokoto threatened to vote against him during the 2023 presidential elections if he emerges the candidate for the PDP.

Reacting on Friday morning, Macaroni opined that Atiku’s action shows that politicians care less about the people.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to see beyond the gimmicks, suggesting that they only play friendly when they seek votes.

“Atiku deleting the tweet condemning the gruesome murder of Deborah shows what we have been preaching this whole election season.

“Politicians don’t care for the people. They only play to the gallery when seeking our votes. The people must see beyond these gimmicks,” he tweeted.
