The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Nana Oyibo, for allegedly stabbing his neighbour, Onos Obadeke, to death in the Sapele area of the state.

According to a report by PUNCH Metro, the middle-aged man was stabbed with a broken bottle on Tuesday around the Old Eku Road, Sapele.

A source said, “The siblings of the suspect and the victim started the fight before Onos and Nana joined. Nana picked up a bottle, broke it and stabbed Onos in the chest; he fell and was rushed to a hospital. He died on arrival at the hospital after losing a lot of blood.

“The suspect and the deceased were neighbours in the same compound, though their families were not in talking terms.”

It was said that the suspect fled after committing the crime, but was later arrested by the police.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the killing, adding that the suspect was in custody.

He said, “Yes, it is true. The suspect stabbed him to death with a bottle and he was arrested on Wednesday. I don’t know the cause of the fight. Investigation is ongoing.”
