Newcastle United have completed a £55 million move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa after weeks of tough negotiations.

The deal includes an initial £50m payment with an extra £5m in add-ons based on performance. The DR Congo international is already on his way to Tyneside to finalize medicals and paperwork.

The transfer was sealed just hours before the summer window closed, following two failed bids from Newcastle earlier in the month.

The breakthrough came a day after Wissa publicly called out Brentford, saying the club was blocking his desired move.

In a post on Instagram, Wissa wrote, “I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window, I feel compelled to make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.”

The 27-year-old forward will join Eddie Howe’s squad as the Magpies aim to rebuild their attack following the sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British record fee of £125m.

Howe recently added German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a six-year deal and has been pushing for another proven Premier League scorer.

Brentford, meanwhile, have seen a busy summer window, selling Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United for £65m, goalkeeper Mark Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen for £8m, and midfielder Christian Norgaard to Arsenal in a £15m deal.

To fill the gap left by outgoing stars, the Bees signed forward Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth in a club-record £42.5m transfer last month.

Wissa’s move is expected to be confirmed before the official registration deadline, with fans already buzzing over what he could bring to Newcastle’s attack this season.
